We are a Health Advisory Service designed specifically for college students and their parents.
Whether hundreds or thousands of miles away from home, your student may need access to medical advice and care. We understand the frustration and worry that families often experience when their college student needs medical attention that cannot be addressed by Student Health Clinics or local Urgent Care Centers. We are parents of college students too, and we understand the importance of your child’s health.
Designed to establish a bridge to care for college students, our service helps simplify and breakdown barriers to communication between parents, students, and Primary Care Physicians back home. We have built a set of services tailored to the specific needs of college students and to ensure excellent service, membership is currently limited to 50 students.
Currently, this service is only available to students in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Please check back in or sign up for alerts to know when this service becomes available in other college towns.

SHC is not a medical services provider, nor do we give medical advice. SHC is a health advisory service that connects your student to the right care making sure that they are seeing the top medical practitioners in the community who are vetted by SHC to ensure they meet our rigorous quality standards. Medical services will be billed by the medical provider, and families are responsible for the incurred cost of medical care.

There are two key steps and a third optional step to registering your child for an annual membership. First step is for you, the parent, to register through the website. We collect important contact information at this step, as well as payment. After you, the parent, has completed your part, your child will receive a text message (the second step) with a link to complete their part of the registration process. It works just like checking in with the airlines for a flight. This is a critical step during which we gather important information about your child's health, obtain permission to keep the parent in the loop, and permission to reach out to your child's pediatrician/internist back home. We are often asked if the parent can complete this step; however, it is essential that your college student is the one granting us permission. The third step is to complete an onboarding interview by phone or video call with your personal navigator. We find that parents often appreciate this opportunity to establish a connection, ensure that we have a good plan in place, and set expectations right up front.

When a child turns 18, parents can still be involved as long as the correct paperwork is completed and on file. We will make sure that you and your student are able to complete the necessary paperwork and we will keep it on file for you.

Why do we partner with Green Tree Pediatrics for phone triage services?
Having been involved in the creation of this practice in 2004, and having worked closely with this practice for the past 15 years, we are confident that Green Tree Pediatrics can meet our high standards for the care your student will receive. The 24/7 help line is staffed by physicians from Green Tree Pediatrics.
Green Tree Pediatrics does not accept new patients who are older than 18 years at the time care would be established. For local access to care, your navigator will make recommendations based on your college student's individual profile to ensure that they are matched up with the right provider for them.
